Robin Wright Penn at Crossroads with Sean
Posted by Andru Edwards Categories: Celeb News, Celebrity Gossip,
Robin Wright Penn is at a “crossroads” in her relationship with Sean Penn. The Forrest Gump actress says she and the Milk actor, who called off divorce proceedings in May, are living apart after she realized what she wants from life.
The mother-of-two, who married Sean in 1996, said:
“I hit that crossroad a while ago. The ‘I know what I don’t want’ was flashing in neon lights. I have no regrets. I, we, have two amazing children we raised together. There’s no limbo anymore. There’s no time. I’m too old for this s**t.”
Robin also revealed she is looking forward to moving on with her life, especially her film career. The 43-year-old star said: “There’s clarity of life now. I think I’ve always been a follow-the-leader with my career, or maybe waiting for things to happen. Now I’m like, ‘I’m OK’ - I know the direction, whoever’s on board can go with me.”

Here’s a quick look at some of the casting announcements made recently:
Paul Giamatti: The Farrelly Brothers’ Three Stooges film took a huge blow when they lost Sean Penn; however, Peter Farrelly has recently revealed that John Adams star Paul Giamatti will be taking his place to fill in Larry’s shoes. Jim Carrey and Benicio Del Toro also star as Curly and Moe.

Three Stooges Loses Sean Penn
Posted by Veronica Santiago Categories: MGM, Comedy, Casting, Celeb News, Upcoming Releases,
Jim Carrey might have been willing to gain 50 pounds to play Curly Howard, but his film has lost an entire body. Sean Penn, who was scheduled to play Larry Fine in the Three Stooges, has just dropped out of the project.
The Farrelly brothers film would have joined the two-time Oscar winner with Carrey and Benicio Del Toro. (The Che star was picked to star as Moe Howard.) Unfortunately, Sean has reportedly decided to put family before work. (His rocky relationship with Robin Wright Penn is currently back on.) That choice means giving up a role in Cartel as well.
It’s not known at this point what Sean’s leave will mean for the long-awaited comedy. Stooges was slated to begin production sometime in August. If the studio opts to wait for his return, the film could be delayed for another year.

Jim Carrey’s Plans for Three Stooges Weight Gain
Posted by Veronica Santiago Categories: MGM, Comedy, Casting, Celeb News,
Whether you’re trying to lose or gain weight, there’s no time like the present to get started.
Even though he hasn’t been officially attached to The Three Stooges project, Jim Carrey has already begun his personal preparations. According to his girlfriend, Jenny McCarthy, that means extra helpings of dessert.
To play the role of Curly Howard, the Yes Man star hopes to pack an extra 50 pounds to his frame. Jenny told Ellen Degeneres on the daytime talk show that audiences will eventually be “blown away” by his overall transformation. That includes his impersonation of the famous character.

Three Stooges May Unite Penn, Carrey and Del Toro
Posted by Veronica Santiago Categories: MGM, Comedy, Casting, Celeb News, Upcoming Releases,
Sean Penn has just lined up his next project, and it has nothing to do with Lindsay Lohan. The 48-year-old actor has just attached himself to a picture from the Farrelly brothers (There’s Something About Mary).
Sean, who recently won his second Oscar for his portrayal of Harvey Milk, will now take on the role of Larry (Fine) in MGM’s The Three Stooges. Jim Carrey, who is still in negotations for the part of Curly (Howard), will reportedly gain up to 40 pounds for the movie. Meanwhile, Benicio Del Toro is being courted to play Moe (Howard).
Unlike Milk, this film will not be considered a biopic. “It takes place in present day, and they look, dress and sound exactly like the Stooges,” Peter Farrelly clarified.
Although it was originally November 2009 release, production is not expected to begin until later this fall.

Lindsay Lohan Planning to Work with Sean Penn?
Posted by Veronica Santiago Categories: Celebrity Gossip,
UPDATE: You can read Seth Rogen’s response to Lindsay’s comments here.
What do Sean Penn, Lindsay Lohan and Seth Rogen have in common? According to the unemployed name in this group, they could be starring in a movie together.
In the April issue of Nylon magazine, the 22-year-old tabloid fixture expressed a concern many people are now sharing: a lack of work. “It’s scary when you realize, ‘Oh my God, I’m not working. And I have a house to pay for now.’” (When exactly did you realize that, honey—before or after you went to the club?)
And though she admits being turned down for Tim Burton’s adaptation of Alice in Wonderland, Lindsay claims she still has other possible projects out there.

The 2009 Academy Awards: Live Commentary
Posted by Veronica Santiago Categories: Awards,
After a year away from live Oscars coverage, I’m thrilled to be back for the 2009 Academy Awards.
Even though Dark Knight‘s snub will probably keep a number of viewers away (how many can honestly say they’ve seen The Reader?), I’m eagerly anticipating several moments from this evening’s broadcast.
Will Heath Ledger’s family bring the house to tears? Is Mickey Rourke going to make the producers wince? Will the cameras pan to Brangelina after Jennifer Aniston’s presentation? Are Vanessa Hudgens and Zac Efron really (really?) going to do a song and dance number?
To find out if this will be the year of the Slumdog or the underdog, stay tuned here for the live results!

2009 Academy Award Nominations
Posted by Veronica Santiago Categories: Awards,
Despite no major wins for The Curious Case of Benjamin Button at Jan. 11’s Golden Globes, the film lead all entries at this morning’s Academy Award nominations. The Brad Pitt feature will go into next month’s ceremony with 13 opportunities to walk away with at least one statue. (Slumdog Millionaire will have 10 chances.)
Here are some of the noteworthy mentions from today’s press conference:
- Kate Winslet (The Reader) - a double-winner just a few weeks ago - only received one nomination this morning. Meryl Streep will only get one chance as well for her role in Doubt.
- Although it wasn’t represented at the Globes, Frozen River was recognized several times today.
- Heath Ledger‘s nomination (on the anniversary of his death!) was expected; The Dark Knight‘s omission was a disappointment.
- Four acting nods for Doubt didn’t equate to an honor for the film.
- Several pleasant announcements in the Best Actor/Supporting Actor categories: Richard Jenkins (The Visitor), Michael Shannon (Revolutionary Road) and Robert Downey Jr. (Tropic Thunder). Shannon got the only major nom for his picture.
